Program Overview

The online BS in Career & Technical Education is designed to provide graduates with the knowledge and skills required to teach highly relevant subjects to students at both the middle and high school levels, showing today’s youth how to use the latest technologies and compete in business and industry. In addition, graduates of the CTE undergraduate degree program may choose to enter the industry as trainers, community colleges and career centers as instructors, and cooperative extension agencies. Five tracks are offered so that students may specialize their degree:

  • Business, Finance and Information Technology Education
  • Business, Marketing and Entrepreneurship Education
  • Technology, Engineering and Design Education
  • Trade and Industry Education
  • Family & Consumer Sciences Education

    Requirements

    This is a bachelor completion program that requires a total of 123-128 credit hours, including transfer credits.

    All of Appalachian's undergraduate distance education programs support upper division coursework only for students, requiring students to first complete the minimum lower division coursework from a regionally accredited school. Online bachelor completion degrees include fields in business, education, nursing, and human services. 

    Graduate online opportunities are available, extending from graduate certificates and master’s degree programs to education specialist programs. Studies include fields in education, business and healthcare.
