Master of Education in Educational Administration
Angelo State University offers a Master of Education degree in Educational Administration for students and professionals in education who want to influence others and lead schools in order to benefit students and educators. Students of the program will learn the role of administration in developing school culture which will develop students’ love of learning. Students will learn about educational leadership and the administrative responsibilities inherent in the role of principle, superintendent and educational administrator.
Students will focus on a curriculum that involves development of educational leadership and administrative capabilities. Those classes include curriculum development, social and cultural influences on learning, tests and measurements, lifespan development, applied research, legal and ethical principles in education, problems of instructional supervision, structure and organization of the public school system, personnel and fiscal management, and leadership.
Graduates of the program will have demonstrated the professional and educational qualifications necessary for advanced roles in educational administration and the leadership of educational institutions. These qualifications include but are not limited to: the ability to design and lead initiatives that evaluate and improve instructional programs, to develop, implement, and manage ongoing evaluation and professional development in teaching and learning, to create strategic plans using a visioning process to be shared and supported by stakeholders, to use data to effectively manage the organization and resources for a safe, secure, and effective learning environment, to articulate the school’s role within the broader political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context and responding effectively to changes that impact the school community, and to model democratic value systems, ethics, and moral leadership.
