From the very start, back in 1874, Andrews University has placed serious scholarship, quality research and a strong focus on practical Christianity first on the list of things they think are important about attendance at a Christian university. Mr. Goodloe Bell, a teacher, started a tiny school with only 12 students in Battle Creek, Michigan. This was the birth of what is now known as Andrews University, later named after John Nevins Andrews (1829–1883), the biggest thinker in the 19th-century Seventh-day Adventist Church. Today, Andrews is the best-known Adventist educational institution in the world.
Andrews boasts about 130 academic options to choose from, quality professors who care about your success, and lots of resources to keep students on track. They provide hands-on learning experiences, opportunities to learn inside and outside the classroom, and personal attention from faculty as a result of our small class-size and low student-faculty ratio.
The School of Distance Education extends access to Adventist education beyond campus, community and national boundaries. We support our faculty and students around the world by promoting best practices in distance education and international partnerships, and by creating a virtual community designed to nurture learning. The School of Distance Education serves Andrews University by providing leadership, faculty and student support, and professional resources in the following areas: educational technology, distance education, compliance and off-campus programs.
