Doctor Of Ministry
Amridge University offers the Doctor of Ministry program for persons who are currently engaged in the ministry and want to develop effective ministries by combining theological reflection with continued spiritual growth, which leads to greater competence in ministerial skills. Students will utilize this program to benefit their effectiveness in ministry or tailor their abilities towards a specialty.
The program consists of classroom courses that emphasize real-world education through examination of cases and other real-world examples in education that will be applicable on the job. Those classes include ministry in the doctor of ministry setting; ministry and theology; the prophets and prophetic ministry in the church; ministry in the world of science, philosophy, and religion; ministry and the contemporary world; ministry and worship; church growth and membership development; and the minister and preaching Christian doctrine.
Completion of the program proves students gained the professionalism and skill necessary to have earned their degree. The qualifications demonstrate that the student has been able to apply the principles that they learned in the program into their development as a functional and affective professional in their field.
These qualifications include the ability to demonstrate a greater competence in ministry skills to more effectively lead in various roles in a church setting; to demonstrate the ability to integrate theology and scripture into an effective ministry; to research issues in congregational ministry and provide scholarly analysis of those issues and innovative solutions; to demonstrate the ability to understand the needs of the contemporary church and develop a vision and a plan to meet those needs; and to show personal spiritual growth as a Christian minister and leader, developing attitudes and values appropriate to a life of Christian faith and practice.
