Program Details
A Post-Master’s Certificate in Family Nurse Practitioner allows nurses to expand their clinical scope of practice. Students in this online program from The George Washington University participate in a wide range of didactic and clinical experiences focusing on the primary care needs of patients, families, and communities. Family theory is key to this program of study, allowing students to develop abilities in recognizing and managing family-related issues in healthcare. Nurses gain advanced competencies in health maintenance and promotion, anticipatory guidance, and diagnosis and management of common health concerns.
Students will take part in two on-campus simulation-based learning experiences. Fall Objective Structured Clinical Examinations allow students to demonstrate critical thinking and diagnostic reasoning skills. A number of hands-on skills workshops are also held. At the end of the FNP program, students showcase their skills during Program Test Outs.
