Allen County Community College offers an Associate of Science degree in Mathematics for students who are interested in developing their understanding of the principles and application of mathematics for theoretical, business, practical, and scientific purposes. Through this program, students will develop specialized knowledge in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and advanced studies in linear algebra and mathematical theory. In addition, this program provides the basis in science and mathematics necessary for future educations and careers in a variety of fields.
Students will take part in a curriculum which will develop general education knowledge in a variety of fields for application in future studies. Those classes include English composition, calculus with analytical geometry, public speaking, statistics, and a variety of electives in social and behavioral science, computer science, health and physical education, natural science, fine arts and humanities, computer programming, and other sciences.
Upon completion of the program, students will have demonstrated the necessary qualifications for future studies in mathematics and the sciences, as well as entry-level positions in business or science. These qualifications include but are not limited to the ability to accurately interpret and translate pictorial and descriptive information into mathematical statements; to solve problems quantitatively and communicate results clearly; to demonstrate understanding of functions, limits, differentiation and integration, and to demonstrate computational skills in areas of applied mathematics.
High school transcript or proof of GED completion and scores. Official transcripts from previous universities and colleges (if applicable). SAT/ACT scores - COMPASS/ASSET test administered to students not submitting SAT/ACT scores.
