Adult Care Home Administration
Allen County Community College offers an Adult Care Home Administration Certificate for students who are interested in developing skills necessary for operations and administration responsibilities within an adult care home. Students will develop fundamental skills in medicine in a curriculum that will prepare the student for roles in medicine as an assistant.
Students will develop their understanding of the responsibilities of administration in adult health care services through the curriculum. Those classes include Microsoft office, medical terminology, medical document transcription, medical insurance coding and billing, business communications, introduction to pharmacology, legal concepts, medical office billing, nursing home supervision, gerontology, and long term care medical records.
Students completing the program will have demonstrated the necessary education and qualifications for medical administration roles within adult health care organizations. These qualifications include but are not limited to the ability to utilize critical thinking when managing care for groups of individuals and families in a variety of health care settings; to demonstrate the ability to apply effective communication skills to establish and maintain therapeutic and professional relationships in managing care for groups of individuals and families in a variety of healthcare settings; to demonstrate the ability to utilize principles of human development when providing nursing care for groups of individuals and families across the life span; and to demonstrate the ability to incorporate knowledge of cultural and socioeconomic factors in the management of nursing care for groups of individuals and families in a variety of healthcare settings.
