Air Force Institute of Technology
In 1919, the Air Force Institute of Technology enrolled the first students realizing the importance of “powered flight.” As technology and aviation has grown, so too has the Institute. By the 1950s, AFIT Graduate School of Engineering and Management began offering degrees. A component of Air University and Air Education and Training Command, AFIT is committed to providing defense-focused graduate and professional continuing education and research to sustain the technological supremacy of America’s air and space forces. The Graduate School has conferred more than 17,500 graduate and 600 doctor of philosophy degrees. AFIT houses three resident schools:
- The Graduate School of Engineering and Management
- The School of Systems and Logistics
- The Civil Engineer School
The Air Force Institute of Technology is federally funded and administered by the U.S. Air Force.
