Program Overview

Aims Community College offers an Associate of Arts Degree (AA) to students who are interested in earning a major in Liberal Arts. This particular degree program is offered completely online. Students can expect to learn through audio/video presentations, web pages, and other mediums. Participation is required in message boards and web-based chat rooms, where students can interact with their instructor and other peers.

There are only two required courses for this program that students must complete; English Composition I & II. The rest of the courses will be chosen from select lists in categories such as Arts & Humanities, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Mathematics, Physical and Life Sciences, and Oral Communications or Technology. Altogether, these classes will equal 38 credit hours. Students will also choose an additional 20-22 credits of elective courses.

In order to successfully participate in this course, students must fulfill certain computer skills. These include being able to type 40 words per minute, know how to create new folders/documents, understand “save as,” know how to communicate through email, download and upload files, and understand how to move files from and to a flash drive. Students will also have access to an academic advisor, with whom they will create class schedules and discuss any questions they may have about their academic standing. Online tutoring is available to those students who may require extra assistance.

    School Overview

    Only two years passed between the birth of the idea of a community college in Greeley, Colorado, until Aims Community College opened its doors in 1967, enrolling nearly one thousand students. Through the decades, Aims has continued to invest millions of dollars constructing thousands of square feet and implementing innovative programming. Today, Aims Community College incorporates four campuses, in Greeley, Fort Lupton, Loveland, and Windsor, along with online opportunities.

    Aims Community College offers online courses through both degree programs and the Continuing Education Division. Students can choose numerous credit courses ranging from Art History and English Composition to Law Enforcement Operations and Medical Terminology. Additionally, Aims Community College has established an online Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Studies that can be earned entirely online, or combined with on-campus classes. Online classes are conducted asynchronously, and students interact via web-based chat rooms and message boards.
