Students of Universities and Colleges can choose to focus their program of studies in the science of Geography. Geography is the study of the Earth, the inhabitants, the lands and the delicate balance of human and natural complexities that have shaped the formation of it as it appears today. Earth sciences have long been a required core course in primary schooling and develop the interest and understanding of the human and physical sciences in relation to the study of Geography.

Geography has traditionally been seen as an interdisciplinary program of study, as it encompasses health, plants, animals, climate and even economics. The broad effect of numerous factors on the development of nations, sustainability, prevention and well-being of the Earths inhabitants are all determined from discoveries within the science of Geography. The importance of understanding the concepts of spatial interaction with the physical world is the primary reason scientists use geography. Geography uses many tools and methodologies when collecting data for analysis. The use of maps, GIS and GPS systems (satellite imagery) as well as the influence of archeology, biology and sociology findings all contribute to the qualitative and quantitive research procedures.

Modern students of Geography can implore the use of satellite imagery when studying the cartography associate with the earth. Global Information Systems (GIS) and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) are two sources of digital science used to create images of the earth otherwise non-attainable. The satellites will project 3-D images of ocean depths and mountain ranges for obtaining spatial measurements, natural habitats and climate conditions.

Graduates of a Geography program of study may enter career field as cartographers, geo-techs, urban planners, civil engineers, environmental researchers or climatologists to name a few. Many successful corporations depend on the expertise and advanced knowledge of geography students when considering future projects as well as the further development of global infrastructures.
