Students pursuing degrees in Education can specialize in several concentrations within the area of study. The field of Education is constantly in need of well trained and educated individuals to further teach an impressionable younger student body the core fundamentals in academics. Education degrees concentrations can be in elementary, secondary or post-secondary, special needs, technology or counseling and administrative roles.

The traditional role of teachers has evolved into more than education providers. Teachers are responsible for proper pedagogy of a society's beliefs, attitudes and customs, as well as being a source of information, advice and wisdom, while facilitating a learners' acquisition of the knowledge. A teacher can merely provide the necessary tools and resources needed for students to learn acceptable attitudes and behaviors needed to succeed in society, future aspirations and contribute to the economy.

Earning a degree in Education refers to learning the policies and procedures designed to equip teachers with the knowledge, attitudes, behaviors and skills required to perform effectively in the classroom, school and community involvement. Teaching degrees can only be obtained from colleges, universities and other accredited higher education institutions, because of the strict standards associated with teaching licensures and certifications.

Teachers prepare young adults to enter rapidly changing environments, whether it is work, family life, vocational occupations or college, the knowledge and skills required for successful opportunities are in the foundations from an elementary and secondary education. Graduates from an Education degree program will supplement the core curriculum with additional continuous learning programs, designed for lifelong learning, develop on existing skills, introduce new practices and ensuring the most current and up-to-date curriculums.
