About Jacksonville College

Jacksonville College is a private, four-year institution associated with the Southern Baptist Convention. Moved by the need for a college in East Texas, a group of earnest Baptists met in Palestine, Texas in March of 1899. They formed a permanent organization known as “The East Texas Educational Society.” The East Texas Educational Society applied for a charter for Jacksonville College, and it was approved and signed by the Secretary of State of Texas later that year. The college is located in a city of some 14,000 inhabitants, nestled in the beautiful, rolling hills of East Texas. It is dedicated to providing Christ-centered teaching and training.

Jacksonville College offers three areas of academic study: Associate Degree, Junior College Diploma, and Continuing Education. The Associate Degree program is designed to provide the basic courses for the first two years of undergraduate education in the liberal arts and sciences. The Junior College Diploma program may be terminal but also allows a student who lacks some of the course requirements for an Associate Degree to receive a diploma and graduate from Jacksonville College. The Continuing Education program offers regularly scheduled classes and special short courses to the public for non-college credit.

Jacksonville College offers an associate degree and many individual courses online. Online learning covers the same content and is academically equivalent to traditional classes. Students earning a Jacksonville College online degree receive the same diploma as that students on-campus earn.
