Better Opportunities through Online Education (BOTOE) is a scholarship program offered through the University of Maryland University College Online to help low-income persons achieve self-sufficiency. This scholarship is for students who are in financial need and who would ordinarily not have the resources to pay for college courses. The program provides eligible individuals with everything needed to earn an undergraduate Business Certificate at UMUC in an online environment. Since all courses are taught online via the World Wide Web, they are ideal for persons with work, family, and other important commitments. The BOTOE Scholarship provides help in arranging a free Internet service provider (ISP) and full tuition to complete up to 18 semester hours of coursework, including textbooks and supplies.
