Fire protection engineering provides an exciting and rewarding career opportunity. The spectrum of job choices is diverse enough to suit any individual interest. WPI is home to the world's leading educational program and first master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering. Additionally, WPI was the first to provide a graduate-level program in fire protection engineering via distance learning in 1993. WPI grants the world's only formal Ph.D. program in the field. WPI has conferred more than 350 masters and doctoral degrees in fire protection engineering, with students hailing from more than 30 countries. Flexibility Is Key --- You can complete your degree full-time or part-time, on-campus or online. All courses are developed and taught by the same faculty with online students getting the exact same courses as full time graduate students. Faculty have backgrounds as engineers with their PEs and their Ph.D.s. They consult, teach, and serve on boards of the most prestigious fire protection associations. To qualify for the program, you must have a strong background in technology including courses in calculus, differential equations, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics.
