Sponsored Description: Founded by 19 U.S. governors, Western Governors University is a private, nonprofit, online university that offers accredited bachelor’s degree programs in information technology for individuals who want to earn their degrees, as well as industry-recognized IT certifications. WGU offers a general IT bachelor’s degree, which incorporates a variety of IT disciplines, as well as specialized IT degrees in software, IT security, network administration, and network design and management, and health informatics, all of which incorporate multiple certifications from reputable organizations—including Microsoft, CompTIA, CIW, and Cisco—at no additional cost. WGU’s unique competency-based model measures learning rather than time in a classroom and provides a relevant professional education designed to enhance your job skills and prepare you for career success. Progress is determined by your ability to pass assessments—tests, projects, essays, and task assignments—that measure your knowledge and skills in critical subject areas. Students who already possess the required skills and knowledge are able to leverage these competencies to complete assessments faster and accelerate their progress. WGU also gives you unparalleled flexibility and control over your education, a dedicated mentor committed to your success, and affordable tuition. The university is also a member of the Microsoft IT Academy.

Western Governors University is the most cost-effective way to earn a degree, especially in Information Technology. Program mentors are helpful and Student Services' customer service is second to none! I highly recommend attending WGU.

You had better be prepared to be on an island with no structure whatsoever. There are resources available but this school is completely an "on your own" environment.

Great school. I love that it's based on what you know and not what busy work you do.
