Sponsored Description: The Upper Iowa University Public Administration major teaches students how to become government officials who can make effective use of public resources. Students will understand public organizations and develop the capacity to manage, plan and administer public policy. They will develop the skills to adapt to changing political and social conditions, function as well-informed, politically and morally sensitive administrators and citizens who think critically and ethically about the purpose, design and function of government organizations. Students also may chose to emphasize either Fire Science or Law Enforcement as part of their Public Administration major. The emphasis in law enforcement or fire science is a unique program which is only available to those individuals who have completed related college courses, training in law enforcement or fire science, and/or who have extensive work experience in law enforcement or fire science. Public Administration majors are ready to become part of local, county or other governmental organizations. While some of the professors are slow to make contact, overall they are very responsive. The staff will assist with any administrative issues without delay. The courses are all very informative and up to date. You will do a great deal of writing, so don't think this is an easy ride. The proctored exams vary from professor to professor...but I never had one in my major that my professor had not prepared me to take with success.
I would highly recommend the program.
