With a UW-Superior Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, you’ll be well qualified to teach children from birth through age 11, or ages 6 through 13. The Elementary Education major prepares learners for careers as certified teachers in schools, plus other careers working with children. The major is designed to meet the high teacher certification standards of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Graduates are eligible for initial licensure to teach either pre-kindergarten through sixth grade or first through eighth grade in Wisconsin, and may qualify for licensure in other states depending on the requirements of those states. All faculty members have public school teaching experience. A teaching minor is required. Current available teaching minors are Adaptive Education/Special Education, Broadfield Language Arts/Reading Teaching, Early Childhood, Geography, Health Education, Library Science, and Social Studies Teaching.
