The Project Management certificate is a great way for those students who are not quite sure they are ready to commit to a degree program. The course work is exactly the same as for the masters program and once a student earns the certificate, those credits are able to be applied to the Master of Science in Project Management. It's a win/win situation with the Project Management Certificate.
The Certificate in Project Management through the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is a great way to start the Masters in Project Management. In order to obtain the certificate students earn 9 credits, all of which can be applied later toward the masters degree. This is a flexible and affordable program. If you are looking to test the waters for Project Management this is a great way to start.
UW-Platteville offers two online project management certificates separate from the Master of Science in Project Management program: Project Management, and Advanced Project Management. Together, the 2 certificates address the nine knowledge areas of the Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®), providing many of the competencies needed to prepare for the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification exam. Credit earned for the two certificates can be applied toward completion of the MSPM degree. The certificate not only look great on a resume, they also provide a place to start if you want to earn your master's degree later.
