UNE’s Graduate Programs in Public Health is dedicated to improving the health and promote the well being of individuals, families and communities, through education, research and service. UNE offers two CEPH-accredited, fully articulated graduate programs. Working adults and post-baccalaureate students can now earn a Graduate Certificate in Public Health (GCPH) and a Master of Public Health degree (MPH) with all of the courses offered in a distance learning online format. UNE’s Public Health Program recently received a $3.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – Education (SNAP-Ed) to provide nutrition education in Maine. The University also received the largest research award in its history, with a $10 million award announced Aug. 13, 2012 by the National Institutes of Health to conduct research and establish a center on the neurobiology of pain. The University of New England is an innovative health sciences university grounded in the liberal arts, with two distinctive coastal Maine campuses, a growing portfolio of online degree programs, and unique study abroad opportunities. UNE has internationally recognized scholars in the sciences, health, medicine and humanities; offers more than 40 undergraduate, graduate and professional degree programs; and is home to Maine’s only medical school.
