I started earning my degree for Thomas Edison State College through the College Plus program. They are wonderful to work with and have helped me tremendousely in guiding me through what classes I need to take. The transfer to Thomas Edison was easy and smooth.

I probably wouldn't have graduated from college if it wasn't for Thomas Edison State College. I used a lot of prior knowledge to take CLEP tests and Thomas Edison accepted all of my CLEP credit. The tuition was rock bottom as well so my entire degree cost less than $15k. Everybody who is using their degree as a vehicle to better career opportunities should consider attending Thomas Edison State College.

Thomas Edison State College represents that it will make obtaining a degree, based upon one's lifelong learning, a simple and less costly process. In a single phrase, "they delivered what they promised as quickly as I could provide the proof of my college level knowledge." It also helped that my AA and BA degrees were more than reasonably priced.

I just graduated from TESC this month (Bachelor of Arts - Computer Science area of study), and can honestly say that it was a great school. I had attended 5 different regionally accredited, on campus, colleges before finally completing my last year online at TESC. I'm so happy I did. The classes were not easy, but they were doable if you studied (like at any other college). The price was great (about $6500 / year -- out of state), and the online courses were convenient. My instructors were knowledgeable and were usually good at responding to my questions -- some better than others, of course. Be aware: most courses require proctored exams. So be prepared for that -- you will need to pick a proctor site if you're not in the Trenton, NJ area (where the school is located). I had my tests proctored at a local community college. It was easy. TESC is a great school -- I'd do it all over again if I had to, without hesitation. Good luck to you.

Thomas Edison State College was one of the first state college systems in the USA -- founded in the 1970s -- to specialize in adult learners. They specialize in helping military and older adult students document career certificates and older college and military service credits toward a degree. On the downside, they are known to be "slow" and not very "customer oriented." They are, after all, a state-funded entity, but they have a very solid rep with employers and are a great choice if you have old college credits, credits from a lot of different colleges that you'd like to consolidate or a lot of experience or professional licenses to document for college credit. I do recommend them for the older more experienced learners which is their specialty area. Younger learners may want a more traditional "teaching" college.

TESC's undergraduate program was more rigorous than traditional colleges and universities. The examinations were challenging; having done well on them has given me a strong sense of achievement As well, the coursework was equally challenging. Those who do well at TESC can be justly proud of their accomplishments.

TESC was an amazing school for my undergraduate work in psychology. I found it to be more rigorous and scholarly than other brick and mortar institutions I had attended. I have since achieved my MS in Psych. and now I'm in my Clinical PhD program and I'm grateful for the foundational studies that were provided to me at TESC. I'm proud of my work there!

The program itself is sound; the materials are great. However, the quality and responsiveness of the mentors vary. There is no apparent obligation for the mentors to be timely or accountable. Some take far too long to grade while others do not make their criteria for grading evident before assignments are due or even after they are done and graded. Some mentors are active in discussion while others are totally absent. Some are too active. The program lacks adequate oversight with respect to mentors.
