The Master of Arts in Professional Counseling with Liberty University Online has been very enjoyable up to this point. Each class continues to present challenges which expand my knoweledge base within the field of counseling. The intensive classes have been some of my favorites thus far, as they allowed me to practice skills learned in the classes. I love the flexibility of online learning, as I'm still able to travel while successfully completing my classes. The professors are some of the best, and genuinely express their concern to each student.

My favorite part of Liberty's online masters program was the course content. I also appreciated the mandatory online discussion and how easy it was to use Blackboard. Unfortunately, because Liberty has an extremely relaxed graduate admission policy, many of my classmates could not engage in truly graduate-level discussion or even write at a high-school level. I had one professor who gave zero comments on my work and never entered the online discussions. Also, Liberty does not provide any active help in arranging internships or recruitment opportunities for online students; even with a 4.0 overall GPA I was unable to find an in-state internship or full-time job within six months of program completion (and I began searching six months before completion!). Students living in liberal states might find a quiet potential employer bias against Liberty. For a while, I was only being offered an interview every couple of months but as soon as I generalized the education section (removed Liberty's name), I began getting several interview offers per week. In short, Liberty offers a good basic product (classes) but does not provide individualized assistance as students approach graduation. Not one adviser ever asked about my future plans or how they could help; it was always "you need this class to graduate". If you are looking for professional enrichment classes, Liberty is a great option. If you are looking for a new career, however, I recommend finding a program that guarantees internship placement and has less religious/political controversy associated with it.
