An online degree from Harvard? Yes please! This Master of Information Technology degree is actually affordable, which is kind of a shocker seeing as it is Harvard. There is one campus visit, but this might give you the chance you've always wanted to visit campus and walk around like a student, because you ARE a student!
Harvard University shifting to offer online programs is important to increasing the credibility of online programs. Recently, Harvard began to offer free online courses (non-credit) for people who may simply want to learn more. I think it is a valuable idea and it will be interesting to see how they move forward with it.
Harvard University is one of the best schools in the country. Having a degree from Harvard can only help you in the long run; everyone recognizes the name and knows how challenging the school is.
Yes, Harvard is in the name, but this is not the same as a degree from Harvard College. Although the degree is granted from the same institution, Harvard University Extension degrees do not have the same strict entry requirements or benefits of a Harvard College program.
That being said, the actual education is top-notch and is the same as you would get if you were on-campus. The coursework and requirements are just as rigorous as any other Harvard program. Harvard Extension degrees can be an excellent back-door into an Ivy League education for a fraction of the price of an on-campus degree.
The programs are difficult and many students do not finish the degree. However, the school also offers IT certificate options for students who want to improve their knowledge and resume, but who may not want to commit to a full masters program.
There's not a lot I can say about Harvard that you probably haven't already heard. It is an extremely prestigious school - not only in Massachusetts but I am going to venture a guess that this is true around the world. It is hard to get into and you work harder for your degree but it is well worth it in the end.
