Dakota State University's MSET program is a very rigorous degree. While one of the objectives is to "understand the capabilities of the computer and its impact upon education", this can be misleading as the program is not for legacy educators whom lack basic technology integration strategies.
This program is for the educator whom is leading their cohort with technology initiatives and whom desire to be recognized, advance their career, and advance their school or district.
Learners will become "proficient in a programming language" and will take multi-media production courses and can even specialize in such an area.
As an individual whom has led technology departments in both the for-profit and non-profit (education) worlds, my only caution to the prospective student would be this: If you are interested in augmenting your classroom, this will be an intense program for you, perhaps too intense. Likewise, if you desire to become that technology leader outside of the classroom you may be better served by pursuing a degree in Instructional Design for Online Learning.
