This is a great school! It's not one who tries to draw students in just to increase numbers, but has genuine advisors who want to help working professionals advance their career or education around their full time schedule. The Psychology program in particular is well-planned, has good availability, and isn't too pricey.

Columbia College and its online Psychology degree is a hidden gem among online universities. Fully accredited, 8 week accelerated semesters, a liberal transfer policy, and a true bricks-and-mortar presence make this school a real find for adult learners. Classes are vigorous but well paced. Most of the instructors I've had have been involved and available. Academic advising has been prompt, and many features are available online, 24 hours a day without the need for a phone call. Financial aid awards are very automated and easy, and requesting a book voucher is seamless. The format used does take some getting used to - (desire2learn) but is overall fairly user friendly. The biggest detractor to this institution is the requirement of most every class for proctored exams. While there are many campuses located throughout the United States (most near or on military installations) students not located near these campuses must secure private proctoring. Proctors must be approved by professors. This detracts from the "anytime, anywhere" aspect of online learning and does take some getting used to. Columbia's true bricks-and-mortar presence I believe lends an air of legitimacy. This is a well-respected college in Missouri and their online program has value and notoriety in the field. Finally, the school is honestly affordable. As described on GetEducated, tuition rates are reasonable. This school is deserving of serious consideration, especially for a liberal arts-based college that offers a variety of programs for working adults. This is not a school that tries to "sell" you to enroll, offering gimmicky discounts, constant phone calls from "advisors" or other high pressure techniques. It is not as well known as many other schools, but it offers the same breadth of educational choices as bigger institutions at an accelerated pace and at a phenomenal value.
