I have seen many ECU and Pirate (their mascot) stickers on cars so I can only assume that it is a popular school in this state. Personally I have a colleague who graduated from this school and she seems well educated and prepared for her job, ![]() Post On: December 28, 2011 Grade: A- I have attended Framingham State College as an on campus student. At the time this school was mostly a commuter school (which I was). It is known for being the "first normal school" in the United States - in plain English they were the first to educate teachers. It was a good school in comparison to other state schools. After receiving my bachelors degree I went on to obtain my masters as well. I would recommend this school. Post On: December 28, 2011 Grade: A There's not a lot I can say about Harvard that you probably haven't already heard. It is an extremely prestigious school - not only in Massachusetts but I am going to venture a guess that this is true around the world. It is hard to get into and you work harder for your degree but it is well worth it in the end. Post On: December 28, 2011 Grade: A MIT is another prestigious school that is in Massachusetts, not quite as prestigious as Harvard but not far behind. You have to be very bright to get in and to stay in! This school is well known outside of Massachusetts as well. It's a fantastic school. Post On: December 28, 2011 Grade: C+ Having lived in North Carolina for about 6 years I regret to say that I don't know much about this school other than it's athletic followers are called "The Wolfpack". In terms of academics and other campus activities I have to say that I am neutral. Post On: December 28, 2011 Grade: C+ Having grown up in Massachusetts where Fitchburg State is located I find myself neutral about this school. Academically it did not have a good or bad reputation but almost no reputation. There were known for some partying but yet not a "party school". Post On: December 28, 2011 Grade: A- Having been raised in Massachusetts I can tell you that WPI is one of the smaller schools in Massachusetts but that it is known for its engineering department. It has absolutely no reputation for being a party school - there is nothing but hard work going on at WPI. Post On: December 28, 2011 Grade: C University of South Carolina is another school in the south east that has an athletic reputation but not much of an academic one. I can't tell what their academics are like but I can say there are a handful of "Gamecock" fans in the area that I live in. Post On: December 28, 2011 Grade: B+ Having lived in Massachusetts (a neighboring state to Connecticut) I have some knowledge of this university. It has a decent academic program and were the NCAA women's basketball champs at one time. Post On: November 25, 2011 Grade: C+ Having grown up in Massachusetts I am familiar with the state school system. University of Massachusetts was known as "Zoo Mass" and had the reputation of being a party school. Post On: November 25, 2011 Grade: B+ Bentley College is one of the lesser known schools in Massachusetts BUT that being said its reputation is good. It was a school that was known to get the best out of its students and deliver a quality education. Post On: November 25, 2011 Grade: B Babson is a school with a decent reputation in Massachusetts. It is known for solid academics without frivolity and its business school. Post On: November 25, 2011 Grade: C+ Good or bad Bay Path College doesn't really have a reputation, good or bad. Those who have heard of this school would probably rank it on the lower end of the spectrum when it comes to public perception but not for any particular reason. Post On: November 25, 2011 Grade: A Duke is one of the better known schools in the South even if you don't live in North Carolina. Yes, it is known for its sports teams (The Blue Devils) but it also has a stellar reputation for academics. If someone told me they were thinking of going to Duke I would tell them to go for it. Having a degree from Duke has a certain prestige that I would be happy to have on my resume. Post On: November 25, 2011 Grade: C+ Boston University is one of the better known colleges in Massachusetts. It has a mixed reputation and is probably better known for its sports teams than its academics. Post On: November 25, 2011 Grade: B- Brandeis is one of many schools in an almost academically over-crowded state. It doesn't stand out among the other school for good or bad reasons. For those who do know of this school it is known for having solid academics. ![]() Post On: November 23, 2011 Grade: A- Lesley University is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Formerly known as Lesley College with the title of University it earns more prestige. It is a great school with options for busy professionals. The program I went to was one weekend a month- Friday night, Saturday and Sunday all day. The professors understood that we had lives outside of school but still pushed us to learn. The University has continued to be helpful even though I am no longer a student there. I would highly recommend Lesley University. Forum
