Further, this institution was a failing private university until it was purchased by a so-called "education entrepreneur." While the school does have a physical campus, most of its students are involved in the online programs. Post On: November 10, 2011 Grade: D I am very uncomfortable with for-profit schools like Devry University that charge outrageous prices for education and burden students with thousands of dollars in student debt. While Devry undoubtedly has a strong advertising budget, there are definitely more affordable, much more respected programs out there! Post On: November 10, 2011 Grade: C I was turned away from Washington State University's online MBA program for several reasons. First it is very expensive for a student without a Bachelor's degree in business to pay the $30k in tuition and an additional $10k in foundation courses. Second, I contacted WSU's distance program staff multiple times with questions only to receive a response two months later. Apparently they weren't monitoring their email on a regular basis. Post On: November 10, 2011 Grade: F While I am not familiar with the academic quality of Capella University, I can easily see that it is incredibly expensive for a regionally accredited online MBA at $31k. Further, it is concerning that the minimum Bachelors GPA is 2.0. I don't think this says much about the rigor of their program. Post On: November 10, 2011 Grade: B+ I have heard good things about Western Governors University and many of my friends who have gone there said that they were impressed with the quality of their education. I personally think that it is convenient that Western Governors University requires proctored exams when other institutions do not. Post On: November 10, 2011 Grade: C- City University of Seattle enjoys a modest reputation, but like other programs in the Pacific Northwest, they are quite expensive. City University of Seattle is not AACSB-accredited and charges a high rate for tuition for an education that could be obtained at a college elsewhere for a fraction of the cost. Post On: November 10, 2011 Grade: B Columbia College seems like a solid institution that charges relatively affordable tuition. I personally would never attend Columbia College because of its obscure name and the possibility of people confusing my education with Columbia University, but nevertheless, this institution charges reasonable tuition if you're not looking for an AACSB-accredited MBA. Post On: November 10, 2011 Grade: C I would be weary about American Public University, because it is a for-profit institution, which puts it on the same level as schools like the University of Phoenix and Devry University. I'm happy to see an affordable tuition, but when it comes to a graduate business educaiton, I think that you get what you pay for. Post On: November 10, 2011 Grade: C- I personally found Liberty University's online MBA program to be unattractive. First, I think that it is kind of strange that on their online MBA program webpage they have a stock photograph of a young businessman. Too bad this young businessman can also be found on other school's online MBA program page, too! For $20k, I think that an AACSB-accredited school would be a much better option! Post On: November 10, 2011 Grade: A I have co-workers that received their bachelor's degree from Eastern Oregon University and reported excellent reviews. The flexibility of the program and that fact that it is an actual state school makes Eastern Oregon a good choice! Post On: November 10, 2011 Grade: A Mississippi State University's Online MBA program seems like a great option! This school is affordable, nationally recognized, and has a good football team. Also, MSU is AACSB-accredited and offers students the ability to choose coursework concentrations. Post On: November 10, 2011 Grade: D I had friends enroll in Hope International University's business program and they reported that it was a very disorganized and inconsistent program. One of my friends actually dropped out of the program after taking on nearly $10k in loans. There are better options. Post On: November 10, 2011 Grade: C I personally found Harvard University's online programs to be very inconvenient as they require campus visits. The program further requires students to come to campus to take additional classes if they need prerequisite courses. Post On: November 10, 2011 Grade: B- Gonzaga is a very respected institution in the pacific northwest and they offer programs at a reasonable price for a private university. I chose against Gonzaga, because they offered programs in "soft business" fields like communications and leadership. I think it would be great if Gonzaga would develop an online MBA or management degree. Post On: November 9, 2011 Grade: C I initially thought that I wanted to go to Amberton University, and liked that the school provides a quality education at a low-price, but I was uncomfortable with the fact that this institution's business programs are not accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. I chose not to pursue an education at Amberton for this reason. Post On: November 9, 2011 Grade: C I appreciate the low tuition of this institution, but am uncomfortable with the fact that this is a for-profit schools. I think that pursuing an education at a community college and then transferring to a state college would be a much better option than pursuing an education at an institution that has only been regionally accredited for a few years. Post On: November 9, 2011 Grade: C- In my opinion there are much more affordable AACSB-accredited programs than that of Arizona State University. I was shocked by the price of their tuition! Nevertheless, this school maintains a solid reputation for academic quality, though I would never attend because of cost. Post On: November 9, 2011 Grade: B+ Reputable, solid, and established AACSB-accredited program that boasts a superior reputation. I personally would never pursue this program because of the cost and because of the fact that students are required to travel. For me, this was a huge factor in my online MBA decision. Post On: November 9, 2011 Grade: F I would never pursue an education at the University of Phoenix. This school has a terrible reputation and some employers do not consider an education earned at the University of Phoenix to be of any worth. I must say that I agree. There are far better non-profit, respected, AACSB-accredited business programs. Post On: November 9, 2011 Grade: B- Babson has quite the reputation for coursework in entrepreneurship. I think that this is a solid, respected AACSB-accredited program, though I feel that this program is very expensive at $70,000! I would recommend a more affordable AACSB-accredited institution! Post On: November 9, 2011 Grade: C+ Bellevue University appears to be a solid institution, though I was disapointed to see that this school is not AACSB-accredited. Also, this institution requires proctored exams, which is just inconvenient for many people. I strayed away from this school as it is confused with Bellevue College in Bellevue, WA! Post On: November 9, 2011 Grade: C- I looked at Post University, but felt that there institution was sort of obscure. While they offered interesting programs, I felt that the presence of oral and proctored exams were discouraging factors. Post On: November 9, 2011 Grade: C While Boston University is a highly esteemed and respected institution, I felt that there programs were simply too expensive. Additionally, I tried to get in touch with them for weeks to ask additional questions and never heard back! Post On: November 9, 2011 Grade: D+ I would not recommend this school. TUI University is a for-profit institution and has just randomly changed their institution name to Trident University. In terms of name recognition, a degree from so-called "TUI University" isn't worth much! ![]() Post On: November 9, 2011 Grade: A- I really like the University of Wisconsin MBA Consortium program! It is challenging, interesting, engaging, and relatively affordable. While I will pay about $30,000 total for the entire program, this school is so much more affordable than MBA programs in the Seattle area. ![]() Post On: November 9, 2011 Grade: B+ I received a solid education from Seattle Pacific University though this institution is definitely geared more towards traditional students as opposed to working adults. I was disappointed by the lack of distance programs, lack of evening classes, and lack of opportunities for students who commute. Forum
