A great option for students looking for a business specialty degree, but not necessarily an MBA. As part of a strong state university system, the courses UW Platteville offers are of high quality and rigor. The program is both regionally accredited and PMI accredited, which is a plus for project managers seeking or maintaining a PMP certification. The combination of business and PM-specific courses give a solid graduate education to succeed in a project management career.

One of the most affordable MBA's from a reputable state institution. The online courses are taught by the same faculty that teach in the on-campus program. This program is a true gem. The name recognition and network of Ole Miss, low tuition, and AACSB accreditation make this degree a great value.

For a program from a lesser-known, Canadian school, Athabasca's EMBA program is actually pretty well-respected. In 2004, it made the Financial Times list of the top 75 EMBA degrees. The program has a reputation for quality comparable to programs that are much more well-known. But in this price range, students can find many similar programs that give better recognition, networks, and overall value for their money.

The program's option for the SAP/ERP concentration makes the degree unique and attractive for someone looking to work in the ERP field. SAP consultants and project managers are generally paid extremely well. An MBA degree with in-demand technology skills is a great combination.

This program is listed as a Master of Science in Business Administration, but the courses are geared toward the IT professional. The 30 credit program offers options for a thesis or capstone project. The degree is optimal for a student seeking the middle ground between an MBA and an MS in Computer Science. The program is from a respected state institution with broad recognition in the western US. It's tuition is competitive, and lower than most online IS/IT programs from similar schools. This program is a great option for a student seeking an affordable graduate education from a reputable and recognizable school.

This is an affordable program from a respected and reputable school. UMass-Lowell is known for its technology and engineering programs. The BS in IT can also be done as a second bachelor's degree in only 30 credit hours. This would be a great option for someone changing careers or solidifying their IT skills.

This degree alone will not get you a job. In fact, it may hinder your job search with some companies. However, in many cases, it can be a good complement to an already strong resume. If you are working in government or education, this degree may be a good option to meet the requirements for a raise or promotion. If you are working in a corporate setting and hope to move beyond middle-management, there are cheaper and better options available to you. Your best option is likely a distance or in-person MBA from a recognized state or non-profit school. The degree is not a fluff degree by any means, and it requires a significant amount of work. But for the amount of money and the amount of work required, there are many other schools that will give you a better return on your education investment.

This is one of only a handful of distance-based programs in conflict resolution. As part of the Cal State system, the school has good name recognition. The price really can't be beat. With the low cost of the degree, the financial risk for the program is low, with the potential for high rewards. The program's distance-based nature is one of its challenges. Since so much of conflict resolution relies on in-person contact, a distance-based program cannot deliver the same type of interaction as an in-person program. However, for a student that cannot attend an in-person program due to work, family, or location issues, this is the next best option.

Yes, it's expensive. But it's Thunderbird. This is one of the most renown and respected schools for international business. It's a top-tier school with broad international recognition and a reputation for excellence. Despite the high cost, this degree can deliver a good return on your educational investment. The program offers a blend of online and in-person interaction. The seminars and trips help to nourish and solidify your relationships with professors and students. These seminars help students build a stronger network - something lacking in many online programs.

For a student seeking a quality distance-education from a well-respected university, you won't find much better than Northwestern's programs. However, the quality and recognition comes at a cost. The tuition and fees for the program are on the high side, but are not significantly different than if you attended in-person. The program is definitely a resume builder. If your employer will pay for the program, it is a great choice for someone looking to make the next move in their Health/Medical Informatics career.

The program's individualized schedule can be both an advantage and a challenge. Since students move through the program as fast as they want/are able to, much of the work is done independently. This is a great benefit to students who are self-driven and want to move quickly through the program. Also, since so much of the work is done individually, students don't need to worry about coordinating assignments and schedules with a group. However, the lack of a cohort and group interaction can act as a detriment to an MBA student. Students of the program do not have the same opportunities to build the network and relationships that they might at other schools.

Yes, Harvard is in the name, but this is not the same as a degree from Harvard College. Although the degree is granted from the same institution, Harvard University Extension degrees do not have the same strict entry requirements or benefits of a Harvard College program. That being said, the actual education is top-notch and is the same as you would get if you were on-campus. The coursework and requirements are just as rigorous as any other Harvard program. Harvard Extension degrees can be an excellent back-door into an Ivy League education for a fraction of the price of an on-campus degree. The programs are difficult and many students do not finish the degree. However, the school also offers IT certificate options for students who want to improve their knowledge and resume, but who may not want to commit to a full masters program.

It's an online degree from a for-profit university. For many recruiters, that's two strikes against it. However, for someone who already has a strong resume, the degree can be the difference that gives them the edge over other candidates. If you are already in a well-paying job or work in government/education, this program might be worth the cost. Also, if your employer is paying for it, the program can be a good value. If not, you may want to explore other programs. A close relative graduated from this program two years ago and is making less money than when she started it, and now has to pay the student loans for it. Although it's a legitimate degree from an accredited institution, there are programs from state schools that may be a better overall value, even if they cost a little more.

When you saw that this was Duke, you knew it wouldn't be cheap. But despite the cost, the degree can deliver a return far greater than the expense. This is a top-notch degree from a top school. The blend of distance and in-person coursework offers flexibility while still allowing you to build relationships with your professors and fellow students. This is not a lightweight program. If you can get a full/part sponsorship from your employer, you won't find many better options for a distance-based MBA. If you are willing to pay the full cost on your own, you might be better off attending an in-person program from a top-ten university. However, for professionals who want/need to continue to work during an MBA program, this is still a great option.

This is a cheap MBA, but not only in cost. The program is nationally accredited, but not regionally accredited. It's lack of regional accreditation means that it will not be recognized by many employers and government agencies. Although the program is flexible and low-cost, you would probably be better off spending a little more for a program with better accreditation and reputability.

You can find graduate degrees in project management for half the price of this one. However, George Washington University has excellent name recognition and is a well-respected university. If your employer will cover at least some of the costs, the degree can be a great value. Note that two short campus visits are required for this program. The program is best for students who want to specialize in project management, rather than completing a more broad MBA degree.

This degree is one of the best values for a distance-based HR masters program. While the university has better name recognition in the southern US, Troy University is a reputable and respected school. This degree is a great option for HR professionals who need a flexible and affordable graduate education. There are very few online HR programs that even come close to Troy's price range.

This program has several aspects that make it an attractive option for a potential MBA student. First, it comes from a school with easy name recognition. Second, it can be completed in as little as 30 credit hours, depending on the student's background. This degree can be pretty affordable, compared to other AACSB accredited programs. Also, the program is AACSB accredited, which is the gold-standard for graduate business programs. While a degree from Wyoming won't get the same national recognition as some other schools, it would be seen as a solid MBA choice in the western US.

The Kelley MBA program is highly respected and internationally known. The curriculum and content in the online program is of the same quality as the on-campus program. For a professional who wants an education from a top-tier MBA program but needs the flexibility of a distance degree, this is a great option. The tuition is on the high side, but is actually lower than most similarly ranked MBA programs. The benefits of the degree can justify the cost, in many cases. Note that occasional campus visits are required.

Let's face it, University of Phoenix has good name recognition, but sometimes has a less-than-favorable reputation. However, in the IT field, where skill and experience usually outweigh education, this degree can still be a good value. In my company, many senior developers, analysts, and managers have degrees from UoP. This degree works best for students already working in the IT field who want to expand their IT education. For someone who wants the degree for a career change, a distance degree from a state or non-profit university with a better reputation may be a better option. Without experience, the degree's value isn't as great. The program requires a lot of group work, and students will need to work with others from different time-zones with varying abilities and backgrounds. This can be challenging for many students.

This program is from a top university known for its expertise in health sciences - and its tuition reflects this. An MPH from Johns Hopkins will be seen as a first-class professional degree. While only 80% of the program is distance-based, the campus visits and international trips offer great networking and educational opportunities for students. The program is costly compared to other MPH programs, but can be well-worth it.

There are very few distance-based programs in International Relations, and this one is one of the best values. Students can choose their own concentration, depending on course availability. This gives students additional flexibility to customize the program to suit their needs.
