Program Details

The General Education Certificate is an online liberal arts degree from Ulster County Community College.  This certificate is designed for those who are undecided about their eventual degree programs or who hope to transfer campuses, and it allows students to satisfy general education courses.  With this liberal arts degree, you will satisfy the liberal arts core of an Associate of Art or Associate of Science degree and facilitate transfer to a four-year institution.  Coursework helps students use quantitative methods to solve problems, understand and apply the methods used by scientists to explore natural and social phenomena, and gain a basic understanding of American and Western history. 

Graduates are able to:

  • Understand at least one principal form of artistic expression and the creative process
  • Demonstrate basic proficiency in a foreign language and culture
  • Produce coherent texts and oral discourse
  • Develop, identify, analyze, and evaluate arguments in work
