Stratford University encourages applicants from all walks of life, including recently graduated high school students, working professionals, international students, and anyone aspiring a new career path. Stratford University is a private, for-profit institution which opened its doors in 1976. Approximately 1,800 students attend Stratford University with a student-faculty ratio of 15:1. Stratford University has additional Virginia campuses in Woodbridge, Richmond, and Newport News, along with locations in Baltimore, MD and India. Stratford also maintains an online campus catering to students with busy lifestyles.

Stratford University is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools to award Diplomas, Associate’s, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees. In addition, the University is accredited by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation.

Stratford University offers a variety of online degree programs ranging from a Certificate and Diploma in Accounting to Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. The Master’s degree program offers ten options.

Stratford strives to prepare students for successful careers upon graduation. Students enrolling in the 54-credit Master of Business Administration program can choose from nine different focuses, which include Entrepreneurship, Information Technology and E-Commerce, and Marketing. The Master of Science in International Hospitality Management infuses students with cultural experiences and communication techniques to prepare them for careers in the global hospitality industry. And students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting complete 90-credit hours of core classes to prepare for work in business and finance.

Stratford University’s online programs provide rigorous formats similar to the on-campus programs, but online courses deliver added flexibility and convenience. All instructors maintain credentials at the Master’s degree level or higher with real-world experience in their field of exdivertise. Classes are taught asynchronously allowing students to access and complete assignments 24/7. Students follow a syllabus with scheduled deadlines and must actively engage with other students through the virtual classroom which contains threaded discussions.

Students will need to complete the application and submit required documentation before acceptance to Stratford. First-time students will need to submit documentation of a high school diploma or GED. International students may be required to complete and submit TOEFL/IELTS test results. Online programs taught in English require English proficiency, however Stratford University does offer bilingual courses as well. Upon acceptance, all incoming new students must complete ACCUPLACER placement tests in reading and mathematics. In addition, graduate students need to complete and submit either the GRE or GMAT scores (GMAT required for all graduate business and accounting degrees, GRE required for all others).

Tuition at Stratford University is based on quarter-credit hours and varies by degree level. There also is a $50 non-refundable application fee. Associate’s degrees require the completion of 20 courses, Bachelor’s degrees require 40 courses, and students pursuing Master’s degrees must complete 12 courses. 

Stratford supports financial aid programs for its students. Federal aid programs include the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, Federal Work-Study Program, Federal Subsidized/Unsubsidized Stafford Loans, and Federal PLUS Loans. The University also sponsors scholarships, including merit-based awards. In addition, Stratford University is approved to provide specific programs of training for military personnel. The University partners with the Yellow Ribbon Program under the Post 9/11 GI Bill. Active Duty military also have the opportunity to participate in the Stratford University military tuition assistance program. After the application of tuition assistance benefits, Stratford will waive the remaining tuition. Stratford also awards Vocational Rehabilitation Benefits to eligible recipients.
