Saddleback College is a community college located in Mission Viejo, California. Saddleback is a member of the California Community College system and awards associate’s degrees and certificates in more than 100 different subjects.

Saddleback College is officially accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. It is important to note that the Nursing programs at Saddleback are also accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. The mission of Saddleback College is:

In addition to academic programs and opportunities, students are offered many extracurricular activities and events. Saddleback College is located in Orange County, California which is one of the most beautiful “Mediterranean feeling” areas in the United States. A few miles from the coast of the Pacific Ocean, students at this college have the ability to bask in nice weather all year round. The college offers many clubs and organizations that range from Wilderness Adventure Club to Model United Nations.

Saddleback houses 19 athletic teams that compete in some of the most competitive community college conferences in the nation. Men’s sports include basketball, baseball, golf, cross country, football, water polo, swimming, tennis and track & field. Women’s sports include basketball, cross country, golf, fastpitch softball, swimming & diving, tennis, track & field, volleyball, water polo, and soccer. Many of Saddleback’s alumni have continued onto higher athletic achievements such as the National Football League and Major League Baseball.

Founded in 1968, Saddleback is the oldest institution governed by the South Orange County Community College District. The establishment of the institution was in response to the growing and diverse population and also a need for educational opportunities in Orange County. The college’s different academic sectors are highly recognized and the science department is especially reputable with its quality-based programs in Nursing, Physics, Environmental Science, and Chemistry. This institution has a student to faculty ratio of 29 to 1 and employs 851 instructional faculty.

The application process for admissions to Saddleback College can be completed completely online. There is an open-admissions policy. All the instructions and required documents are located on the college’s website. It is important to note that Saddleback College has an open admission policy. In-state residents pay only $762 per academic year and nonresidents pay $4,694. Financial aid is available through FAFSA and other sources. About 21,728 students attend Saddleback College. Of that number, 57 percent are white and 23 percent are Hispanic. Around 38 percent of the student population is 25 years or older. Approximately 70 percent of students attend classes part time.
