Program Details

The online Master of Science in Radiation Health Physics program is offered in a research-based Master of Science option or the professional program which does not require a thesis and earns a Master of Health Physics. Both options are intended to prepare engineers for the frontline defense in the detection of radiation and in the field of nuclear science. The curriculum is designed for students with professional interests in radiation protection, and concentration areas include nuclear techniques, arms control technology, nuclear instrumentation and applications, nuclear power generation, nuclear reactor engineering, nuclear systems design and modeling, nuclear waste management, numerical methods for reactor analysis, radiation shielding, radioisotope production, and space nuclear power. Graduates are prepared for careers in research dealing with nuclear energy, ionizing radiation, and radioactive materials, especially within the areas of security, national defense, medical health, and safety.
