Nova Southeastern University may have started as a small independent not-for-profit university when it first educated its first students in 1964, however this Ft. Lauderdale campus followed the lead of many growing movements from the sixties and quickly expanded into a modern global facility promoting distance learning by 1972. Today, NSU hosts field-based programs in more than twenty states, as well as internationally. In addition, this University educates over 28,000 students each year and is committed to an online educational program. Nova Southeastern University offers a large number of online degree programs to accommodate a wide range of students. Students can choose from twenty-plus online undergraduate degrees, many of which focus in the fields of business, education, computer and health sciences, like Nursing. Student’s seeking a graduate degree have more than fifty different online options. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship. Seventy-six of Nova Southeastern’s online graduate, undergraduate, and certificate programs are certified by the Southern Regional Education Board’s Electronic Campus (SREB). The SREB’s certification determines that online degrees and certificates meet full compliance according to a comprehensive set of Principles of Good Practice.

Online classes at Nova Southeastern University occur in both synchronous and asynchronous formats to best facilitate an interactive environment between students and faculty. A typical course incorporates threaded bulletin boards, real-time electronic classrooms using video and audio, and multimedia-based assignments. Online resources are available to students, including the University’s Electronic Library which houses many full-text documents and access to databases. Admission requirements vary from first time students just graduating high school to adult students returning to school to international students seeking a degree, but include the application and submission of transcripts, from either high school or prior college experience.
