Notre Dame College is located in South Euclid, Ohio and was established in 1922; it continues today as a Catholic, coeducational, liberal arts college.
Notre Dame College was originally founded as a women’s college. However, it became coeducational in 2001. The Sisters of Notre Dame founded the college and today it offers career-oriented liberal arts programs that aim to help their students succeed in the “real world.” The mission of Notre Dame College is “Notre Dame College, a Catholic institution in the tradition of the Sisters of Notre Dame, educates a diverse population in the liberal arts for personal, professional and global responsibility.” It is important to note that this college retains its affiliation with the Catholic Church. Because of this, the school believes that they have a “mission within the Church to extend Christ’s loving, saving activity in the world. The Gospel serves as a guide and goal.” Around 55 percent of students are Catholic. The school has about a 79 percent retention rate and 51 percent of students graduate within five years of their first semester. About 81 percent of prospective freshmen applicants are accepted.
The College offers associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Over 30 disciplines are available to students. The school is divided into five Academic Divisions, which include Arts & Humanities, Business Administration, Education, Nursing, Science & Mathematics. The North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, which is part of the Higher Learning Commission, accredits this institution. Notre Dame College is also part of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities and has earned accreditations from the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
