School Details

New Charter University focuses on online learning, with all classes delivered via distance education. This innovative academic platform allows working adult students to incorporate their knowledge and learned experiences with self-paced instruction and students have 24/7 access to course materials. Exams can also be scheduled to meet the flexible demands of each student.

Faculty “coach” students and provide one-on-one instruction. In fact, most instructors spend an average of 32 hours per week just in communication with students. In addition, Student Advisors provide assistance with academic programs and progress, along with answering questions regarding other university practices. New Charter allows prospective students to preview the online learning environment prior to commitment.

Students can pursue associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees. New Charter University, through an articulation agreement with Patten University, awards a 60-credit regionally accredited Associate’s degree in General Studies or students can choose to complete the 20-course Associate of Science in Business degree. The Bachelor’s program includes a 120-credit Bachelor of Science in Business degree with an optional concentration in Management/Leadership. 12-course Master of Business Administration programs focus on concentrations in Finance, Health Care Management, and Management.

Prospective students are first provisionally admitted and then accepted upon the initial five step application process.

  1. Determine an intended degree.
  2. Complete admissions requirements.
  3. Decide on a start date (programs are divided into 16-week terms with monthly start dates).
  4. Pay the first term’s tuition, prior to beginning.
  5. After full acceptance upon completion of the application process, students meet with an assigned Student Advisor and gain access to all university resources.

Admissions requirements vary by degree program. Undergraduate students must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, along with 12 college-level credits for transfer from coursework completed at either New Charter University or an approved institution. The maximum number of transfer credits accepted are:

  • Associate’s degree, up to 45 credits, with a minimum grade “C”
  • Bachelor’s degree, up to 90 credits, with a minimum grade “C”
  • Master’s degree, up to 6 credits, with a minimum grade “B”

New Charter University also recognizes prior experience and training, including military and/or law enforcement training, in addition to credit by examination (CLEP, DANTES, and Excelsior College Exams). Graduate students must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. In addition, prospective graduate students will need to submit official transcripts prior to enrollment. International students will also be required to submit proof of English language proficiency, via the TOEFL assessment scores, and all foreign transcripts are subject to evaluation by New Charter University.

Students enrolled in New Charter University pay fixed, flat-rate tuition. Textbooks and other added classroom resources are included in rates, though students will be required to have a computer with either Windows XP or greater, or Mac OS X operating system. In addition, students will need access to high speed Internet, with Microsoft Office or compatible software, and have a working knowledge of programs, such as Google Chrome. Multimedia tools, such as Webcam and computer speakers and headphones may also be required for communication and exam purposes.

New Charter chooses not to participate in Title IV financial aid programs.
