Morningside College, with United Methodist affiliations, is a private not-for-profit, four-year institution of higher education, located in the Sioux City, Iowa.
Morningside College was founded in 1894 by the United Methodist Church and has strong roots in liberal arts education. Morningside’s campus lies on nearly 70 acres and has more than 20 buildings. The Morningside Historic District, which includes the Grace united Methodist Church and a large part of the campus, is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Morningside College offers bachelor’s degrees and master’s degrees in more than 30 programs of study. All graduate students are enrolled only in distance education. Other special learning opportunities at Morningside College include ROTC (Army) and teacher certification.
Student activities include: student government, service groups, religious organizations, music ensembles, three national fraternities, and two music fraternities. Student media includes a weekly newspaper, a public-access television cable TV channel, and a radio station. The “Mustangs” compete in men and women’s track, men’s baseball, men and women’s basketball, men’s football, men and women’s golf, men and women’s soccer, women’s softball, men and women’s swimming, men and women’s tennis, women’s volleyball, and men’s wrestling. Athletic teams compete in the NAIA in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
On-campus living includes three traditional residence halls and three apartment-style buildings. The Garretson houses opened in 2009 and offer two houses for upperclassmen to live in. Room and board varies between $1,000 and $5,060 per academic year. Meal plans cost $3,870 per year and are available in a variety of options.
Morningside College receives more than 2,000 applications for admission each year and accepts about 63 percent of those students. To apply for enrollment at Morningside College, pay the $100 enrollment deposit and complete the Morningside Application for Admission. Students also must submit official high school transcripts and admission scores.
All students at Morningside College receive some sort of financial aid.
