Morehead State University, founded in 1887, is a four-year, public institution of higher education, located in the remote region of Morehead, Kentucky. MSU also operates four regional campuses in Ashland, Mount Sterling, Prestonsburg, and West Liberty, Kentucky.
Morehead State University houses more than 140 undergraduate degree programs and over 70 graduate degree programs within the:

- University College.
MSU is one of only five institutions in the United States to offer a bachelor’s degree in space science. The most popular undergraduate majors include Nursing, Social Work, Elementary Education, Biology, Accounting, Agriculture, Special Education, Business, Music, Exercise Science, Radiologic Sciences, Psychology and Sociology.
About 37 percent of undergraduate students and 90 percent of graduate students are enrolled in distance education. Online courses incorporate discussion boards, video conferencing, chats, and blogs.
Morehead State University receives application for admission from more than 3,300 students each year and about 93 percent of those students will be admitted to MSU. To apply for admission, students must complete an admissions application with the $30 application fee, submit all official transcripts, and submit official admissions test scores. Students must have a minimum ACT score of 18 or SAT of 270 to be considered for admission. International students must also provide evidence of proficiency in the English language.
Students are encouraged to apply for financial aid each year after January 1 or after applying for admission. More than 80 percent of Morehead State University students receive financial aid. To apply for financial aid, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 15. Forms of aid available at MSU include: Federal Pell Grant, Federal SEO Grant, CAP Grant, TEACH Grant Program, Federal Perkins Loan, Stafford Loan, Federal PLUS Loan, Student Employment, and Scholarships.
