School Details

McKinley College originally began through its parent company, Weston Distance Learning in 1981, in response to a growing demand for “high-quality and affordable degree-granting distance education” targeting the adult sector.  Founded in 2006, Weston leadership opened McKinley College in order to reach a demographic beyond the typical physical campus, to include professionals seeking career moves, work-from-home individuals, along with military personnel and retirees looking for new challenges. McKinley College is fully accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council. In addition, McKinley College is approved and regulated by the Colorado Department of Higher Education, Private Occupational School Board, and is a member of the Colorado Association of Career Colleges and Schools, and the Better Business Bureau.

McKinley focuses on eleven Associate of Applied Science Degree Programs preparing students for careers in:

  •     Accounting
  •     Business Management
  •     eCommerce
  •     Entrepreneurship
  •     Fashion Merchandising
  •     Financial Services Management
  •     Health Information Technology
  •     Human Resources
  •     Marketing
  •     Medical Specialties
  •     Social Work
Students pursuing degrees in the business-related fields enroll in classes, like marketing, economics, business law, management, or accounting while students working towards a healthcare degree may study topics, including medical terminology, anatomy, coding and billing, or psychology. Programs are taught by qualified instructors with “advanced degrees in their subject areas” and all course materials are subjected to “academic review” for approval. McKinley offers individualized scheduling and most students can complete their Associate’s degree in sixteen months. In addition, McKinley reviews possible transfer credits from accrediting institutions, along with the acknowledgement of CLEP exams, ACE-evaluated courses, DSST (DANTES) and Excelsior College Exams (ECE), and eligible Life Experience Exams. Furthermore, McKinley College retains articulation agreements with select schools for students planning to further pursue a Bachelor’s degree.

Prospective students enrolling in McKinley College will need to submit a signed enrollment agreement, submit official transcripts with proof of a state-recognized high school diploma or GED and/or college degree, and international students need to submit proof of English proficiency in reading and writing.

Students begin their journey at McKinley College by participating in Success Strategies, an orientation class to provide students with basic learning skills and technology tools. Classes are taught asynchronously and students can access support via faculty and Student Services. The Graduate Services department also provides “unlimited career support” for students looking for employment or desiring to further their education. And, McKinley College houses a virtual library with links to added resources.
