Lesley University strives to create an online environment that mirrors their urban Cambridge campus setting with a “student-interaction and action-oriented learning” approach that cultivates interaction among participants and between students and faculty.  The education component of the school dates back to its early days as an instructional facility to educate kindergarten teachers.  A private university founded in 1909 by Edith Lesley, Lesley University confers Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctoral, Post-Master’s and Post-Bachelor’s Certificates in 23 states and online. Today it has expanded its educational roots to prepare teachers in early education, math, science, special education, and literacy, along with programs like counseling and psychology. The University currently enrolls over eight thousand students with approximately 75% of those students pursuing graduate degrees.  In 2011, Lesley accepted 1,836 students out of 3,428 applicants.
