Knowledge Systems Institute is a four-year private school located in Skokie, Illinois. The school was founded in 1978 as a school for research and professional education but has since expanded its former scope, purpose, and design.

KSI prides itself as having experience and exdivertise in online learning. Online courses are taught by Ph.D. faculty members who have real-life experience in the field. Faculty provide lectures and personalized learning through video, chat, email, and online platforms. Hybrid courses are also available that have an online element but also require on-campus learning. KSI’s online MS Degree program is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). KSI’s online program includes lessons presented by KSI faculty, and employs the methods of multimedia, online learning education: online video, PowerPoint presentations, flash graphics, PDF documents, programming code examples, and relevant resource hyperlinks. Archived online discussions are also available.
KSI’s main campus is located north of Chicago, Illinois nearby Evanston and just a block away from the North Shore Sculpture Park on McCormick Boulevard. On-campus facilities include the following: classrooms, computer labs with broadband Internet connection and large flat screen monitors, Digital Art Lab with modern digital art authoring tools (available for KSI Digital Art Students), KSI Library, Chronobot Laboratory, and the RFID Laboratory.
Knowledge Systems Institute has 119 students (0 undergraduates) and three faculty members. All faculty members teach full-time. About 97% of students study full-time and 3% study part-time. The student body contains 24% female students and 76% male students. About 94% of students qualify as non-resident aliens and the remaining students are white (2%), Asian (3%), and black (1%).
Students have access to services such as: remedial tutoring, academic counseling, career counseling, employment services for students, and placement services for completers.
Tuition costs $7,560 per year and fees cost $150 per year. The school offers College Work Study (CWA) and offers loans through the William D. Ford Federal Direct (Stafford) Loan program, in which borrowers obtain loan funds directly from the US Department of Education. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen. To qualify to receive financial aid, you must complete a FAFSA form, complete an Entrance Interview, and submit a completed Master Promissory Note for Federal Stafford Loans.
