Kendall College is a four-year private school located in Chicago, Illinois. The school was founded in 1934 as Evanston Collegiate Institute by two seminarians endorsed by the Scandinavian Conference of the Methodist Church. In 1950 the school was renamed Kendall College to honor the Washington National’s Founders, Curtis Kendall and his family. Kendall College is a subsidiary of Laureate Education, which operates an international network of accredited campus-based and online universities

Kendall College offers certificates of completion, associate’s degrees, and bachelor’s degrees in hospitality management, culinary arts, business, and early childhood education.  KC runs on a quarter academic calendar (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter).

Kendall College has 2,225 undergraduate students and 201 faculty members, giving the university a 16 to 1 student-to-faculty ratio. Of all faculty members, 45 teach full-time and 156 teach part-time. Of all students, about 58% study full-time and about 42% study part-time. The student body contains 74% female students and 26% male students. About 49% of all students are white with the remaining students being black and Hispanic. About 39% of students are ages 24 and under with 61% of students being ages 25 and above. About 78% of students are from Illinois, 17% of students are out-of-state students, and 4% of students are from a foreign country. The retention rate for first-time, full-time students is 72% and the retention rate for first-time, part-time students is 27%. The overall graduation rate is 49%.

Chicago is a city that is home to different cultures, ethnicities, lifestyles, and perspectives. With over 7,300 restaurants, 53 museums, an award-winning theater, Millennium Park and an array of hotels, event venues and convention centers, Chicago has something for everyone. Some attractions include: Adler Planetarium, Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Cubs, John Hancock Observatory, Shedd Aquarium, Chicago Bulls, Lincoln Park Zoo, Museum of Contemporary Art, and The Art Institute of Chicago.

Students living on-campus live in the Buckingham building, which is a luxury high-rise apartment building. The apartment-style living has all-inclusive amenities, a professional on-site management team, easy access to public transportation and 24/7 secure access. The Buckingham is Energy Star Certified, promotes green practices, and uses eco-friendly cleaning supplies for the health of its residents and the environment.

Special learning opportunities available to students include: teacher certification, distance learning, study abroad, and weekend/evening classes. Students have access to services such as remedial tutoring, academic and career counseling, employment services, and placement services for completers.

Tuition costs $22,910 per year and books and other supplies are estimated to cost  $1,800 per year. On-campus housing costs $10,485 per year with an average of $6,174 needed for additional living expenses. Off-campus living is estimated to cost $10,485 per year with $6,174 in additional living expenses. Tuition payment plans are offered. Financial aid is offered in the form of state grants, federal grants, scholarships, and loans. To qualify to receive financial aid, you must complete a FAFSA form and be evaluated to be in financial need. About 84% of all KC students receive financial aid.

Every year, around 400 students apply to Kendall College and 98% of those applicants will be admitted into the university. Statistically, 98% of men and 98% of women who apply will be accepted. To be considered for enrollment, a student must submit a high school transcript and GPA and submit admission test scores for the ACT/SAT and TOEFL. Kendall College offers rolling admissions so students can submit applications throughout the year. All applicants are required to complete an on-campus interview with an Enrollment Advisor.

Kendall College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
