Faith Evangelical College and Seminary is a private, four-year evangelical Christian institution of higher learning located in Tacoma, Washington. Founded in 1969 as Faith Evangelical Lutheran Seminary by the organization Lutherans Alert-National. The goal of the institution was to rebuild conservative values because some felt that the Lutheran Church was becoming too liberal. The school’s mission states that the school exists to glorify God and to build Christian leaders to spread the word of God. Many graduates of Faith Evangelical College and Seminary go on to become counselors, church working, chaplains, pastors and missionaries throughout the globe. Faith Evangelical College and Seminary is accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools. 

Faith Evangelical College and Seminary is a small institution with a total of 340 students, broken down into about 175 undergraduate students and 165 graduate students. Faith puts great emphasis on one-to-one professor/student interactions and boasts a 10:1 student to faculty ratio. The majority of the student population at Faith is African American; however, the school also has about 30 percent Caucasian students, ten percent Asian students and around five percent Hispanic students. There are over 40 different denominations present among the student body.

Students interested in applying to Faith Evangelical College and Seminary must satisfy several requirements. Students must first complete the application for admission, submit the full payment for the application fee, and provide a personal statement. Students must also provide references demonstrating his or her commitment to the Church and character. Students must also send official high school or previous college or university transcripts as well as official test scores. Students receive an admission decision in about three weeks time.

Tuition and fees for a full-time student is around $7,500. For part-time students, who calculate tuition costs on a per credit hour basis, cost per credit hour is $160. Students seeking to complete a master’s program are required to complete a range 72 to 136 credit hours depending on the program. Students interested in earning their doctoral degree must complete an average of 108 quarter credit hours to complete the program.
