Edinboro University of Pennsylvania is located in Edinboro, Pennsylvania. About 8,200 students are enrolled in the 4-year, public university. This university was founded in 1857, and was first known as the Edinboro Academy. Edinboro remains “committed to creating opportunities for intellectual and personal growth in an inclusive environment” with a focus on “excellence, curiosity, respect, responsibility, and integrity.” Edinboro offers over 100 degree programs and 57 minors programs.

There are five schools within Edinboro: College of Science and Health Professions, School of Business, School of Graduate Studies and Research, College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, and School of Education. The student-to-faculty ratio is 18:1, which gives opportunities for students to work closely with their academic instructors. Students can pursue associates, bachelor’s, and master’s degree programs. Other study options include internships, independent study, dual-enrollment for high school students, teacher certification, and a study abroad program.
Courses in the undergraduate programs include traditional degrees such as biology, computer science, chemistry, English, and graphic design. Edinboro also offers select unique courses such as health promotion, jewelry/metalsmithing, nuclear medicine technology, speech language pathology, and wood/furniture design. Students can also choose to enroll in the Honors Program along with completing their undergraduate degree. This includes taking honor courses, completing a research project/thesis (research/creative activity or thesis/independent study), taking contact courses, or participating in national study programs or international study abroad programs. Honor students must also present a topic of research at a regional, university, or national conference, or in front of a national collegiate honors council.
In addition to traditional on-campus undergraduate programs, Edinboro University supports both traditional graduate and online graduate degree programs. Online degree programs include studies in art, counseling, educational leadership, social work, nursing, communication studies, education, and psychology.
There are a large number of extracurricular student activities on campus. Edinboro has 17 varsity sports programs competing in both Divisions I and II, and over 30 intramural teams. Edinboro also has social fraternities and sororities, as well as an ROTC program, and more than 200 student groups. Residence halls are coed, and some halls offer accommodations for disabled students. Students may also choose to live in a Living-Learning Community, which will place them in close living proximity to students with similar interests. Halls may be themed by sports, academics, or other interests. The average age of all students on campus is 22-years-old, and 88 percent of students are from in-state. Approximately 58 percent of the students population is female, and 42 percent is male. Only about 7 percent of students attend part-time.
The estimated total tuition, including room and board for full-time in-state residents is $18,945. For full-time students who are non-Pennsylvania residents, the estimated total tuition and fees, including room and board is $22,683.40. Merit-based and need-based financial assistance is available. Students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) prior to qualifying for need-based aid. Merit-based scholarships are awarded when students are admitted to Edinboro.
