Daymar College started in 1963 with a heavy focus on general business studies, and it has been accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Association of Independent Colleges and Schools as a business college since its early days. After a few successful years of operating under the name of Owensboro Business College, secretarial science and accounting were added to the school’s curriculum. In 1973, course programming extended even further, and the school was authorized by the Kentucky State Board for Proprietary Education to award Associate degrees. And even though the school offered classes beyond the world of business for a number of years, it was not until 2001 that the name was officially changed to Daymar College.
Today, Daymar College is a senior college accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) to award certificates, diplomas, academic associate degrees, and bachelor degrees. The main campus remains in Louisville, Kentucky, but there are a number of campuses spread around the state, in Ohio and even online—so no matter where you are geographically, Daymar is an easy option for your college education.
In fact, the still-bustling-in-business school is well-known for its online program. The online campus offers students education options in a plethora of programs in some of today’s fast-growing fields. The online option makes it easy for Daymar to offer flexible scheduling, and a newly released One Course per Month format that makes this method of education that much more convenient—this format allows students to better balance their daily responsibilities (be it a full-time or part-time job, raising a family, you name it) while getting an exceptional education. They need only take one class at a time before moving on to the next, and can do so at a pace that works for them… whenever it works and wherever it works (read: from the local library or the comfort of your own home)! Each month is a different course, and it’s the only one students need to focus on at that time.
Daymar Online instructors are dedicated, experienced professionals who lead career-focused classes, designed to give students the skills and knowledge they need to excel in their field of choice. Beyond the classroom, a Career Services staff is available free of charge to help students prepare for interviews, create cover letters and resumes, find college internships and seek out other career-focused opportunities. The online professors reply back to all questions or emails within 24 hours, and the same syllabi and books are used in on-campus and online classes—ensuring a quality education whether you get it on school grounds or at home.
Two of the schools best business programs are available online: Business Management and Business Administration Technology, as well as an online program in Criminal Justice. There is also an online medical program for those seeking a career as a Billing and Coding Specialist as well as an administrative track in medical assisting. Other programs include Accounting, Billing and Coding Specialist, Bookkeeping, Human Resource Management, Paralegal Studies and Pharmacy Technology. And Daymar is offering new Bachelor Degree programs in Health Care Administration and Nursing (RN to BSN). Just like those offered on-campus, the online courses have financial aid options—one more way programs are more accessible to more people.
And if any prospective students are nervous about embarking on a college education online, Daymar offers a number of free tutorials through their website that allows prospective students to see just how easy it is to log on to the student portal through their computer and start learning! The site has step-by-step instructions and online course demos. If you want to get your online education from Daymar, it’s as simple as turning on your computer!
