Courses focus on industry standards like ICD and CPT coding and third-party reimbursement as students learn how to assign and apply the appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes based on medical record documentation which are then used in healthcare databases and in claims to be paid by insurance carriers. Graduates are prepared to take the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Certified Coding Associate exam.
