Crown College is a private not-for-profit, four-year institution of higher education, affiliated with the Christ and Missionary Alliance Church and located in Saint Bonifacius, Minnesota.
Crown College pledges to provide a Christ-centered education that is globally connected, academically excellent and affordable. The classroom environment reflects a holistic approach and faculty are committed to their students in mind, body and spirit. Founded in 1916, Crown College built a mission and curriculum around the motto, “Called to serve. Prepared to lead.” The college initially enrolled four students who wanted to study the bible. Quickly, it developed into a training institution and then progressed into the St. Paul Bible Institute just a few short years later. Through the years, the college gained a solid reputation as a leading school in Christian education. In 1992 the name was changed to Crown College.
Today, Crown College is a private, not-for-profit Christian institution located in Saint Bonifacius, Minnesota— just about a 30 minute drive from downtown Minneapolis. Approximately 1,270 students attend Crown College and adult students make up approximately 40 percent of the student population. Crown College has a scenic campus filled with oak trees, rolling hills and a lake. The university also supports a diverse student population, offers global opportunities, and continues to focus on spiritual enrichment. There are a plethora of extracurricular activities. Students enjoy activities such as bible studies, intramural sports, cultural events and an 18-hole disc golf course. There are over 15 clubs and organizations offered and students are only a short distance from the city lights of Minneapolis where they can visit museums, attend sports events and engage in other activities. Known as “the Storm,” Crown College has a strong athletic program. The university is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III, and competes in programs, such as basketball, cross country, soccer, softball, volleyball, football, baseball and golf.
Crown College is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. In addition, Crown College is chartered by the Minnesota Department of Education and registered with the Minnesota Office of Higher Education. A wide range of memberships include participation in the Association of Christian Schools International, Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, Council for Independent Colleges, and more.
Crown College offers more than 35 undergraduate degree programs and awards both associate’s and bachelor’s degrees. Undergraduate degree programs range from studies in the Associate of Science in Business Administration to the B.S.N. in Nursing. Students can pursue fields in education, psychology, business, theology, ministry, music, and more. DISTANCE AND ONLINE EDUCATION
Furthermore, Crown offers online courses, managed through the School of Online Studies & Graduate School for added flexibility and convenience. Online associate’s degrees feature programs in business, Christian ministry, and general studies. Students can enroll in online bachelor’s programs, including business administration, Christian ministry, criminal justice, disaster and emergency management, general/liberal studies, and psychology/counseling. Students can also enroll in the online Bible Certificate program and ACSI Certificate programs. With a focus on Christian education, these accredited programs include collaboration with both faculty and peers. Students progress through 5-7 week courses, one class at a time. Crown College also offers online graduate degree programs. Master’s degrees include programs in business administration, Christian studies, international leadership, ministry leadership, and organizational leadership. Students can access coursework 24/7 and determine study schedules that best fit their busy lifestyles. Professors provide personal attention while recognizing the value of students rich with life experiences.
Prospective students complete an online application, in addition to submitting spiritual life essays, the Crown College covenant, official transcripts and SAT scores. Upon acceptance, students pay a deposit, apply for financial aid if needed, complete all the necessary forms and register for classes.
COSTS AND FINANCIAL AID
Crown is one of the 10 most affordable private Christian colleges in the Midwest, as recognized by the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities, and more than 98% of students receive some sort of financial aid as well. On-campus undergraduate tuition is $22,420 annually (an added $1,310 per semester for Nursing students, not counting clinical costs). Tuition for students enrolled in the School of Online Studies & Graduate School can be broken down as follows:
- undergraduates: $380 per credit hour
- graduate (excluding the MBA): $430 per credit hour
- MBA: $470 per credit hour.
Students attending Crown College will have access to financial aid programs, including scholarships, grants, and loans. On-campus aid programs include:
- Grants - including the Federal Pell Grant, Minnesota State Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, Crown Ministerial Grant, and the International Student Grant
- Scholarships - including merit-based awards, departmental awards, the Founders Scholarship, Christian Leader Scholarship, and other opportunities
- Loans - including the Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Stafford Loans, Federal Perkins Loan, Direct Parent PLUS Loan, and alternative loan sources

Financial aid funding for the School of Online Studies & Graduate School programs includes the Federal Pell Grant, Minnesota State Grant, along with Federal Direct Stafford Loans. Crown College has been recognized by G.I. Jobs as a Military Friendly School and supports the GI Bill and Tuition Assistance funding.
