Bluefield College’s Online Degree Program provides accredited distance education options for adult students that feature accelerated formats, allowing students with necessary credits to earn a degree in 13 months.
ONLINE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
Distance education degrees include studies in criminal justice, leadership and management, entrepreneurship, early childhood education, human services, an RN-BSN nursing program, and a Master of Arts in Education. Programs are housed in:

- School of Nursing
The eLearning environment focuses on concepts that mirror that of the real-world. Classes are taught by faculty with necessary academic credentials and with a commitment to the school’s Christian beliefs. Academic support, library resources, and eligibility for financial aid for full-time students are all accessible.
Prospective students applying to the Online Degree Program must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher, a high school diploma or GED, and a college prerequisite course in Math and English and/or qualifying SAT/ACT scores. Added criteria may be necessary for specific programs. Students may qualify for prior learning credits based on military and law enforcement training, the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), and Dantes Subject Standardized Tests (DSST).
ABOUT THE SCHOOL
Established by the Baptist General Association, Bluefield admitted its first students in 1922. Today, Bluefield College is a four-year, private, not-for-profit institution of higher learning, located in the southwestern city of Bluefield, Virginia. The school retains a vision to “seek to graduate servant leaders who understand their life calling and transform the world;” and a mission that states: “Bluefield College is an inclusive Christ-centered learning community developing transformational servant leaders.”
Bluefield College awards Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Master of Arts degrees in more than 35 programs housed within: the College of Arts and Letters, College of Sciences, College of Professional Programs, School of Nursing, and the School of Education. Bluefield is a member of CAPA International Education and provides semester study abroad options to interested students. A number of institutions retain articulation agreements with Bluefield, some of which include Danville Community College, Appalachian School of Law, the Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Southwest Law Enforcement Academy, Virginia Community College System, and others.
STUDENT FINANCIAL AID
Bluefield’s Title IV school code for application of the FAFSA is: 003703. In addition to the FAFSA application, residents of Virginia will need to complete the Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG) application. In addition to the VTAG, residents of Virginia transferring into Bluefield may also be eligible for the Virginia Two Year College Transfer Grant. Federal aid programs include the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Direct Loans, and the Federal Direct PLUS Loan for parents of dependent online students. Bluefield College hosts the Catherine Corte Payne Scholarship for Adult Learning scholarship specifically awarded to students enrolled in a distance education program. The school also supports qualifying veterans, military personnel, and dependents, through financial aid programs, including the Yellow Ribbon Program
