In 1950, the Baptist Missionary Association of America took the first steps to form a national seminary and ground was broken in 1956. By 1957, the first students enrolled in the Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary. The seminary has continually expanded, adding degree programs, extending the campus, and preparing students for Christian outreach. Today, the main campus is located on seventeen acres in Jacksonville, Texas, with a second extension site in Conway, Arkansas. Students can also enroll in the distance learning campus. Graduate students can pursue a Master of Divinity degree or a Master of Arts in Church Ministries. In addition, students have the option to enroll in the Bachelor of Arts in Religion or Associate of Divinity degrees, or complete a diploma or certificate program.
Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. In addition, Master’s degree programs through the Graduate Studies Division of BMA Seminary are accredited by the Commission on Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada, and BMA Seminary retains membership with the Council of Southwestern Theological Schools and the American Theological Library Association.
The distance learning campus awards both undergraduate and graduate degrees. Programs include:

- Certificate of Christian Leadership
Prospective students will need to submit the application, letters of recommendation, official transcripts, a statement of church approval, along with additional documentation, like a pre-study assessment and verification of the bacterial meningitis vaccination. In addition, international students must demonstrate English language proficiency and prove financial means of support. Furthermore, individual degree programs may require additional documentation and prerequisites.
Tuition at BMA Theological Seminary is $140 per semester hour, not including additional fees, such as the required $45 per semester Library fee and the $100 per course Distance Learning fee.
BMA Theological Seminary supports financial aid programs and acquires funding through the churches of the Baptist Missionary Association of America. Undergraduate students may be eligible for the Federal Pell Grant. Furthermore, the seminary sponsors academic scholarships. While BMA Theological Seminary discourages the use of student loans to pay for education, they understand economic hardship and will accept loans as payment upon request.
