With a growing need for technical education, Sam Atieh founded the American College of Technology in 2001 - a private, for-profit online institution located in St. Joseph, Missouri. Today, more than 350 students are enrolled in ACOT and the student-to-faculty ratio is 10:1.The American College of Technology is nationally accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council, recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and The Council for Higher Education Accreditation. In addition, ACOT is certified by the Missouri Coordinating Board for Higher Education.

American College of Technology awards Associate’s, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees, along with Technical Diploma programs. Students can pursue:

Master’s degree

  • Master of Business Administration in the Global Economy, Financial Management or Project and Operations Management Concentrations

Bachelor’s degrees

  • Business Management in the Global Economy (2+2 program)
  • Information Systems Engineering  - Networking and Security (2+2 program)
  • Software Engineering - Business Applications (2+2 program)

Associate’s degrees

In the 2+2 Bachelor’s degree programs, students complete an Associate’s degree prior to acceptance into the Bachelor’s program. For unrelated Associate’s degrees, students may need to complete nine college credits in introductory business and finance courses before entry into the Bachelor’s degree programs. ACOT also retains articulation agreements with the California Intercontinental University, Colorado Technical University, and California Southern University to facilitate the transfer of Associate’s degrees into four-year institutions, giving expanded options for educational goals.

Classes at ACOT are formatted with both synchronous interactive platforms and asynchronous recorded online instruction that can be accessed 24/7. Prospective students will need to complete the application and fee, and submit official high school/GED/college transcripts, along with a copy of a government-issued photo identification and other possible degree-related documentation. International students will also need to provide proof of English language proficiency.

Tuition is program-specific.

  • Master’s programs, $12,564 total cost
  • Bachelor’s programs, $19,000 total cost
  • Associate’s programs, $17,440 total cost
  • Technical Diploma programs, $8,720 total cost

The American College of Technology supports federal financial aid programs. Additionally, students may also qualify for corporate tuition reimbursement programs or funding through the Work Investment Act. ACOT is recognized as a Military-Friendly School, by G.I. Jobs, and is VRAP (Veterans Retraining Assistance Program) approved. Furthermore, the American College of Technology offers financial aid for eligible veterans and service members, including the GI Bill, Vocational Rehabilitation, and Active Duty Tuition Assistance programs. In addition, ACOT recognizes DANTES assessments for possible earned credit.
