Allied Health Institute delivers post-secondary instruction through virtual classrooms to prepare students for healthcare careers. The private, for-profit Institute enrolls approximately 500 students and most programs can be completed in less than two years. Though Allied Health Institute does not retain a physical campus, headquarter locations are in Plantation, Florida. Allied Health Institute is institutionally accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools.
Students can complete Associate’s degrees, as well as diploma programs. Associate’s degrees include Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Medical Assisting, and Nursing. Students desiring diplomas can focus on programs, including Chiropractic Assistant, EKG Technician, Fire Officer, Massage Therapy, Medical Assistant, Medical Coding Specialist, Medical Office Assistant, and a Personal Trainer diploma. Degree programs incorporate general education coursework with degree-specific instruction, while diploma programs target specific specialties.
Online coursework is delivered in an asynchronous format, but students follow a set schedule. Classes begin each month and students complete one course before moving on to the next. Additionally, students are required to post one discussion per day, for four days each week, in order to complete attendance requirements. In addition, students requiring clinicals or work in the field, will be placed within a 60-mile radius of the student’s zip code. The Institute also supports student learning with Career Services resources, and students can connect with peers through the newly developed New Student Society virtual forum.
Tuition is degree-specific. Associate’s degree tuition ranges from $23,896 for the Medical Assisting degree to $37,382 for the Nursing degree. Diploma programs are also program-specific and tuition begins at $3,518 for the Fire Officer I program.
