Located in South Gate, California, near Los Angeles and Orange County, Advanced College, a private, for-profit institution, opened its doors in 1999. Advanced College awards Associate’s degrees, and certificates and diplomas in the fields of information technology, business, and healthcare. Advanced College offers Associate of Science degrees in:
- Surgical Technology
- Business Administration
- Healthcare Management
- Medical Assistant.
With the exception of the Surgical Technology degree, all Associate’s programs are offered online. Associate’s degrees range from 63 to 66 units in length. In addition, Advanced College provides a Vocational Nursing Program and ten certificate programs, including Massage Therapy, Phlebotomy, Computer Networking and Computerized Accounting. Typical certificate programs range from 32 to 34 units. The Vocational Nursing Program requires 62 units of coursework while the Phlebotomy program requires 80 completion hours. Students successfully completing an Associate’s degree in Healthcare Management at Advanced College may continue their studies via an articulation agreement with Kaplan University. However, Advanced College notes that earned credits in most programs are not transferable to other institutions.
Advanced College is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education and the Commission of International and Trans-Regional Accreditation. In addition, Advanced College is also accredited by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians, and has approval by the Bureau of Private Post-secondary Education. Furthermore, Advance College has approval by Homeland Security to admit non-immigrant students.
Interested applicants will need to complete the application and submit official transcripts, along with a non-refundable registration fee. Prospective international students will need to submit the application and fee, along with official transcripts, a tuition deposit, and proof of financial responsibility.
Tuition is degree specific. Associate’s degrees range from $23,312.50 for the cost of the Accounting degree to $30,601.50 for the Surgical Technology degree. Certificate programs range from the cost of $12,470 for the Hybrid Computerized Office Skills certificate to $14,683 for the Hybrid Physical Therapy Aide program. The Phlebotomy program costs $1,500 and the completion of the Vocational Nursing program is $30,111. The cost covers tuition and fees like registration, uniforms, Student Tuition Recovery Fund, and books and supplies.
Advanced College participates in financial aid programs. Federal aid includes:
